The Bunk Room

I wanted this space to be a place the girls could enjoy with their friends, whether it be a sleepover, movie night, or a place to chill between after school activities. I made full use of this long space by separating the spaces by function (sleep, relax, and play). The far side of the room is anchored by two twin metal beds. The Laura Park pillows on the bed were the inspiration for the color in this room, and they were so great to pull from!

The middle of the room is a lounging area where the girls watch tv, read, and play games. I layered a rug on top of the carpet to define the space, and added a coffee table that would withstand coloring outside the lines, or a competitive game night. The sofa and chairs are extra plush for movie nights. The two small lumbar pillows from Mississippi Stitches compliment the colors from the bedding perfectly.

I love taking risks with color in small spaces because it makes a big impact. The bathroom in the bunk room is Raging Sea 6474 by Sherwin Williams that I pulled from the Laura Park pillows. I was nervous about this color at first, but it has been so easy to work with. Existing artwork from our previous home perfectly tied together the greens and corals.

I kept the walls and flooring neutral, and added some unique Regina Andrew’s rattan pendants for a little something textural. They make this space feel fun, but not childish. The result is youthful but sophisticated!

This room has been one of the most fun to decorate. It is a reminder to have some fun and not take life too seriously.  I hope it hosts lots of late night giggling!
