Red, WHITE, & Blue

What’s the does the exterior of your dream home look like if you could build anything you want?  A quaint street somewhere, lush landscaping, and a painted white exterior maybe? A painted white home is what many of us associate with our picket fence fantasies, but when it comes to actually selecting that white paint color, things aren’t as magical as they appear!

If I had a nickel for every time someone asked me about selecting an exterior white paint color, I would be a wealthy woman! White paint is tricky! And when you stand in front of the wall of paint samples making a decision gets more difficult by the second.

I’ve found a few local homes (and their corresponding paint colors) that I thought might be helpful to share.

The key is to examine your surroundings! How much natural light do you get? What color is your roof or any exposed brick?  It is personal so picking a tiny paint chip from the store just won’t do!  My advice is paint a good size swatch on several places of the home. Watch the sun rise and set.  And give yourself several days to just watch. Paint changes depending on the time of day and even how cloudy it is.  Make an educated decision and your White House will be everything you dreamed it would be!
