Move-out Ready!
Typically your home is your largest asset, so it is absolutely imperative that you make the best first impression with potential buyers. Here are a few honey-do’s you should check off your list before you are ready to show or have your home photographed*by a professional. (It really does pay off!)
Exterior:
Pressure wash all soffits/eaves, porches, and sidewalks. You will be AMAZED by the difference!
Replace or repair any rotted wood on outside if necessary and give a fresh coat of paint. I always tell my clients, if its going to be a doubt for a potential buyer go ahead and fix it.
Weed flower beds, trim bushes, mulch or pine straw flower beds.
Plant seasonal flowers in a few pots outside to invite buyers in. Make your home feel welcoming!
Wash windows.
Interior:
DECLUTTER and SIMPLIFY!!! Less is more! Get a storage unit if you have to! The less ‘stuff’ you have, the less distracted a buyer will be by it. The goal is for a potential buyer to be able to visualize their belongings in your home.
Change air filters and scrub the return air vents.
Give the house a good cleaning, including windows and baseboards.
Get rid of your toilet brush and plunger if they are beside a toilet. No one wants to see that! (Seriously it’s a thing!)
When you are preparing your home for sale, you have to take your emotions out of it. You are selling a product. Shine it up and show it off! And remember that having your home on the market is only a season. I know it’s tough with busy schedules and family life but it will all be worth it in the end!
