Setting your table for Spring

What comes to you mind when you think about spring? I think of color, new green growth, and the start of longer more playful days. When I helped a friend set her table for Easter, I knew those were the ideas I wanted to incorporate.

Let’s start with the center piece! I knew that ferns would be great for Easter (and all season long), the color is great and ferns are a non traditional floral choice on a table. Of course you could use live ferns (maiden hair ferns would be beautiful) but I chose faux ferns because who needs something else to maintain when these look so good? After Easter is over, these precious pots would look great on her outdoor table too!

To add a little something extra, I used adhesive backed moss from Hobby Lobby and stuck it to the terra cotta pots. It was a quick, easy project that really elevated these ferns.

When you are thinking about what to put in the center of the table, if you have a grouping ALWAYS have an odd number. It is also important to think about the height. Having a center piece that is too tall and interrupts the line of sight between guests is distracting to the memories being made. For this table we added some tapered candles to add more height and interest. The greenery around the bottom of the candles are napkin rings she already had. Just because something is intended for a particular use, doesn’t mean it can’t be added to the table in an alternative way.

After the fern project was complete, I knew we needed more color. She already had the most precious blue gingham plates, so I pulled color inspiration from those and grabbed a floral runner from Hobby Lobby while I was there getting the moss. I love that the floral pattern works for different occasions other than Easter, this would be precious all spring and summer or for a baby shower or ladies luncheon.

The burlap place mats add texture and also serve as a great base for colorful plates. On top of the placemats are my favorite Hobby Lobby find.. Annie glass charger dupes! Then the gingham dinner plates, and a sweet bunny salad plate on top. The playful burlap bunny ear napkin rings are the perfect finishing touch!

Its so important to take inventory of what you already have then go out and see what other pieces you can layer in that make your existing or sentimental items pop! Have fun setting your table. There aren’t any rules!
